Alistair is an optometrist with over 20 years’ experience in optometry, having graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 1995.
He completed his professional training at the Tennant Institute of Ophthalmology and Glasgow Eye Infirmary. He then developed further experience in private practice, Gartnavel General, Stobhill and Paisley Royal Alexandrea Hospitals.
In 1998 Alistair joined Kilgour Optometrists providing all forms of specialist contact lenses and eye care provision to the local community.
From September 2014 until March 2017 Alistair was a senior optometrist at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital specialising in pre and post-operative cataract assessments.
He has special interests in Glaucoma, Cataract assessments and contact lenses.
Douglas Orr

Douglas graduated in 2004 and completed his professional training at both the Tennant Institute of Ophthalmology within Gartnavel hospital in Glasgow and Kilgour Optometrists in Ayr.
Qualifying in the summer of 2005 he worked in Kilgour’s in Ayr & Troon as well as other independent practices throughout Scotland. He has advised the NHS on Optometry and eHealth matters through his membership of a variety of local and national committees since 2006.
2015 saw Douglas qualify as a Therapeutic Optometrist (Independent prescriber) and he can diagnose, treat and prescribe for a wide range of eye conditions without his patients having to be seen by either their GP or the hospital eye department.
With specialist interests in the latest diagnostic technology and how it benefits patients Douglas is regularly invited to teach qualified Optometrists and students across the UK at University and industry events. He is particularly interested in how technology enhances the diagnosis and monitoring of ocular disease (Glaucoma and Macular disease) and how it can be used to improve contact lens fitting.
From 2013 to 2017 he lead the Optometry department at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital overseeing a significant expansion in it’s Cataract service and Optometry department. 2017 saw a move to a 1 day a week Specialist Optometrist post at University Hospitals Ayr & Crosshouse where he manages diabetic and glaucoma patients.
