Our Team

Douglas Orr
Optometrist, Bsc (Hons) DipSV MCOptom

Douglas graduated in 2004 and completed his professional training at both the Tennant Institute of Ophthalmology in Glasgow and Kilgour Optometrists.

Qualifying in the summer of 2005, he worked in Kilgour Optometrists and other independent practices throughout Scotland.

Since 2006 Douglas has advised the NHS on a variety of topics through his membership of local and national committees.

Douglas has a special interest in the latest diagnostic technology and how it benefits his patients alongside continued interest in Contact Lenses, Glaucoma and Macular disease. He also holds a diploma in sports vision.

In addition Douglas delivers continuing education and training to other Optometrists across the country and is the Lead Optometrist at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital in Clydebank.

Alistair Simpson
Optometrist, BSc (Hons) DipSV MCOptom

Alistair is an optometrist with over 17 years experience in Optometry, having graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 1995.

He completed his professional training at the Tennant Institute of Ophthalmology and developed further experience over the next 3 years in private practice and at Gartnavel General, Stobhill and Paisley Royal Alexandra Hospitals.

In 1998 Alistair joined Kilgour Optometrists providing all forms of specialist contact lens and eye care provision to the local community and has recently been appointed as a Senior Optometrist at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital.

He has special interests in Glaucoma, Children’s vision and Reading difficulties, Sports Vision and Contact Lenses.

Mhairi Kelly
Optometrist,Bsc(Hons) MCOptom

Mhairi first qualified as a Dispensing Optician in 2004 before continuing her training as an Optometrist.

Mhairi has gained experience in a number of Optometry settings before moving to independent practice in 2009, most recently in Glasgow.  

Since qualification as an Optometrist in 2008 Mhairi has gained accreditation and experience in laser eye and refractive surgery consultations.

In addition to her time at our practice Mhairi also works at the Victoria Infimary, Southern General and Gartnavel General hospitals in Glasgow where she continues to develop her special interest in Low Vision and Paediatrics.
